Ayodhya, Feb. 8 -- A clever conman posing as a police officer duped a mustard oil trader of Rs 40,000 right at the gate of Raunahi police station.

After taking the money, the accused claimed he was going inside the station to bring the goods, but never returned.

According to information, Radheshyam Verma, a resident of Suchittaganj, is engaged in the mustard oil business.

He told police that a man arrived at his shop on a motorcycle, dressed like a policeman, and introduced himself as a close aide of the station-in-charge.

The man claimed that mustard stored at the police station needed to be sold and, on this pretext, took the trader along to the station.
