Shahpur, May 17 -- Congress-backed candidates registered an impressive victory in the Shahpur Nagar Panchayat elections, winning five out of the seven wards and strengthening the party's position in the local civic body.
Soon after the results were declared, the victorious Congress-supported candidates reached the party's main office at Rait, where they met local MLA Keval Singh Pathania and sought his blessings.
The MLA accorded a warm welcome to the newly elected councillors with traditional drum beats and congratulated them by garlanding them and distributing sweets.
