New Delhi, July 1 -- The Congress on Wednesday criticised the Centre's notification of daily wage rates under the new wage framework, alleging that the revised wages are "unjustifiably low" and fail to provide adequate compensation to workers amid rising living costs.

In a statement, Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said the Centre had notified the Variable Basic Wage (VB)-GRAMG and the daily wage rates for workers under the scheme, but claimed that the notified wages, largely around Rs 300 per day, were inadequate.
