Pune, April 27 -- The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress has strongly condemned remarks made by Dhirendra Shastri, also known as Bageshwar Baba, during a program in Nagpur, accusing him of making objectionable statements about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his mentor Samarth Ramdas.

Senior spokesperson of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, Gopal Tiwari, alleged on Monday that such remarks were made in the presence of BJP leadership and termed the incident a reprehensible attempt to tarnish the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj and hurt Maharashtra's pride.
