Hyderabad, July 14 -- Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday urged the Election Commission to extend the deadline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state, citing the slow pace of the voter verification process, particularly in Hyderabad.
A Congress delegation led by the Minister met State Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy and requested additional time to complete the voter revision exercise.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Ponnam Prabhakar said only 21 per cent of the voter revision work had been completed in Hyderabad, with just 10 days left before the July 24 deadline. He said the process was progressing slowly across nearly 4,500 polling station...
