Mumbai, June 24 -- Senior Congress MLA Amin Patel from Mumbadevi constituency on Wednesday expressed serious concern in the Maharashtra Assembly over the inordinate delay in reconstruction of Hancock Bridge, popularly called Hans Bhugra Bridge, which connects Mumbadevi and Byculla constituencies.
Raising the issue in the legislative assembly though a calling attention motion, Patel said BMC had declared the bridge dangerous in 2015 and demolished it in January 2016 after issuing notices. The state government and BMC had assured the Bombay High Court in 2018 that the restoration work would be completed by 2019. However, even by August 2022 only 40% work was done and 2 lanes were opened.
