Chandigarh, Aug. 29 -- - Several Congress leaders were confined to their homes in Nuh on Saturday ahead of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's visit, prompting the opposition to accuse the Haryana government of using police to prevent protests against the chief minister.

District Youth Congress president Mubeen Tedia was among those restricted from leaving home before Saini's scheduled engagements in the district.

Nuh MLA and Congress Legislature Party deputy leader Aftab Ahmed put out a video of the police action and directly targeted the chief minister.

"Whenever the chief minister is afraid, he puts the police in front," Ahmed said in his social media post.
