Kolkata, March 4 -- Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Wednesday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to defer the announcement of the West Bengal Assembly election schedule until the hearing process of nearly 60 lakh voters is complete.

These voters are currently marked as "under adjudication" in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

In a letter addressed to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the former West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) chief expressed deep concern over the final voter list published on February 28, wherein a substantial number of voters have been placed under the "under adjudication" category.
