New Delhi, July 14 -- The Congress today accused the BJP-led Maharashtra government of using the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana for electoral gains, alleging that lakhs of women were enrolled as beneficiaries ahead of the Assembly elections and later removed from the scheme.

The party demanded the immediate restoration of benefits to 62 lakh women excluded from the programme and called for a comprehensive inquiry into its implementation.
