Shillong, Oct. 29 -- In an unprecedented and bizzare political slugfest, the Congress in-charge Meghalaya, A Chellakumar has blamed the ruling National People's Party (NPP) for the alarming rise in HIV cases in the state, attributing it to the NPP-led government's alleged nexus with the drug mafia.

Addressing journalists in Shillong on Wednesday, he expressed concern saying that the number of HIV-affected people in Meghalaya has reached "unimaginable" proportions.
