Pune, Aug. 15 -- A flag-hoisting ceremony was organised at Congress Bhavan on the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day.
Prashant Jagtap, president of the East Division of the Pune City District Congress Committee, hoisted the national flag.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagtap said, Thousands of Satyagrahis and revolutionaries sacrificed their lives for India's independence.
Several Congress leaders, including Lokmanya Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, participated in the freedom movement.
