Alappuzha, April 6 -- The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission (EC) alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is circulating a "malicious" AI-generated deepfake video targeting its candidate in the Haripad Assembly constituency, in a move it claims is aimed at vitiating the electoral atmosphere ahead of the Kerala polls.
In a complaint submitted by UDF Election Committee Chairman Anil B. Kalathil, the party alleged that the BJP's campaign machinery has been widely sharing a fabricated video across social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook.
