Bengaluru, March 15 -- Congress leaders today alleged that four men from Odisha, reportedly linked to BJP-backed independent candidate Dilip Rai, attempted to bribe party MLAs with Rs 5 crore each in Bengaluru, in what has been described as a brazen attempt to influence elections.
The episode, which also involved threats and connections to top BJP and Odisha officials, has created a major political controversy just days ahead of the polls.
According to police, two of the four suspects were taken into custody at a resort near Bidadi after allegedly attempting to approach Congress MLAs and negotiate with them.
