Bengaluru, June 14 -- Escalating his attack on the Congress government in Karnataka, state BJP president and MLA Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Sunday alleged that the ruling party was preparing to slash the number of beneficiaries under its flagship guarantee schemes after realising the severe financial burden they had imposed on the state's exchequer.
Addressing reporters here, Vijayendra said the Congress government had promised guarantees to lakhs of people before the Assembly elections without properly assessing eligibility criteria and was now attempting to reduce the beneficiary base by branding many recipients as ineligible.
