Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 2 -- The Congress has kicked off its campaign for the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation elections with a major shake-up, naming former MLA Adv. K.S. Sabarinathan as its mayoral candidate and unveiling a youthful, women-inclusive first list of candidates.

The initial list comprises 48 names, with a strong presence of newcomers and young leaders, including 27 women. The party, which currently holds just 10 seats in the Corporation, has set an ambitious target of scaling its strength to 51. Sabarinathan, a KPCC general secretary, will contest from the party's sitting seat in Kowdiar.
