Bengaluru, July 18 -- Congress on Saturday escalated the political battle over the HMT land controversy by releasing a four-page dossier that sought to rebut union Minister HD Kumaraswamy's allegations against the Karnataka government and instead pinned responsibility for major land transactions on successive BJP governments.
The document, released by the ruling party, asserted that Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) is a Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and that all significant land transfers were approved either by the Centre or HMT itself, countering Kumaraswamy's charge that the state government had diverted HMT land.
