Pune, Nov. 12 -- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state general secretary Dr. Hulagesh Chalawadi demanded here on Tuesday that local self-government elections should be conducted using ballot papers instead of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
"The BSP has always maintained the stance - No to EVMs. Elections must be held using ballot papers only," he said in a statement.
Dr. Chalawadi, who is also the party's western Maharashtra zone chief, said that "ballot papers truly reflect the will of the voters" and urged the Election Commission to reconsider its decision and ensure "transparent" elections through the use of ballot papers.
