Pune, June 21 -- Serious objections have been raised against Rule 20 (3) of the newly notified Maharashtra Information Commission Rules, which states that a person assisting an appellant or complainant during hearings cannot be a legal practitioner (advocate).
The issue has been flagged by former President of the Pune Bar Association, Advocate Milind Dattatray Pawar, calling it a threat to both citizens' rights and the legal profession.
