London, Aug. 8 -- Commercial shipping traffic through both the critical Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait remained significantly below pre-war levels on Thursday, according to the latest vessel-tracking data, despite there being no new attacks in either waterway.
Data from maritime analytics firm Kpler showed that only eight commercial vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, down from 15 on Tuesday and 12 on Wednesday.
Before the onset of the Iran war, around 130 ships passed through the strategic waterway daily, carrying roughly 20% of global oil and gas shipments.
