Mumbai, May 24 -- In a major crackdown on international drug trafficking, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 2.25 kilograms of cocaine worth nearly Rs 11.25 crore at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in two separate operations. Four foreign nationals have been arrested in connection with the smuggling attempts.
According to officials, the first operation was carried out on May 22 after DRI officers received specific intelligence inputs about two passengers arriving from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. A male and a female passenger were intercepted at the airport. During interrogation, both admitted that they had swallowed capsules filled with narcotic substances to smuggle them into India.
