Chaibasa, April 6 -- A CoBRA battalion jawan of the CRPF was injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast during an anti-Maoist search operation in the Saranda forest area of West Singhbhum district on Monday, officials said.
According to police headquarters, the incident took place when security personnel were carrying out an operation in the forested belt suspected to have Maoist presence.
Inspector General (Operations) Michael S Raj said one jawan sustained minor injuries in the blast and was being evacuated for medical attention. He said an airlift arrangement was being kept ready, if required.
Officials said a live IED was also recovered during the operation and was later neutralised.
