Kochi, April 2 -- In a swift and sustained Maritime Search and Rescue (M-SAR) operation, the Indian Coast Guard successfully rescued a fisherman who had been missing for over 36 hours in the Arabian Sea off the Kerala coast.
The incident occurred nearly 27 kilometres off Kochi, where the fisherman was found adrift without food or water after reportedly going missing late on the night of March 30 from a mechanised fishing vessel, Zion.
Battling dehydration and hypothermia, the survivor was eventually located by Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Arnvesh.
Identified as Ranjumoni Sonowal (40), a crew member of the Tamil Nadu-registered vessel, he had fallen overboard while the boat was returning from fishing operations.
