Hyderabad, June 8 -- union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Monday said the coal and mining sectors have undergone "revolutionary reforms" during the last 12 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, transforming India into the world's second-largest coal producer and consumer.
Addressing a press conference, Kishan Reddy said the reforms launched under the Modi government had eliminated corruption and irregularities that plagued the coal sector during the previous Congress regime.
He alleged that coal block allocations during the UPA period were marred by corruption, whereas the NDA government introduced a transparent auction system in line with Supreme Court directives.
