Bengaluru, June 7 -- Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday made a pointed political pitch to Janata Dal (Secular) workers, invoking the Congress-JD(S) alliance of 2018 and reminding them of the role he played in securing electoral victories for the regional party at a time when it depended on Congress support to remain in power.

Addressing a public meeting in his home turf of Kanakapura, Shivakumar said he had "opened doors" for JD(S) leaders and workers during the coalition years and urged them to reflect on that political history.

"I am not just a leader for Congress workers. I tell JD(S) workers too that D K Shivakumar opened the doors for you. Think about how to make use of this," he said.
