Hyderabad, Aug. 21 -- Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned actress and Padma Shri awardee Sowcar Janaki, describing her death as an irreparable loss to the Indian film industry.
In a post on social media X, Revanth Reddy recalled Sowcar Janaki's nearly seven-decade-long career and her journey from performing in plays during childhood to becoming one of the most respected actors in South Indian cinema.
He noted that her acclaimed performance in Sowcar earned her the screen name by which she became widely known.
The Chief Minister said she acted in nearly 400 films across Telugu, Tamil and Kannada, besides appearing in Hindi and Malayalam cinema.
