Bhubaneswar, Aug. 18 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced a comprehensive assistance package of Rs 1,000 crore for people affected by the recent floods in the state.
The special package was announced after the Chief Minister reviewed the flood situation and assessed the extent of damage caused by incessant rains triggered by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
The package aims at restoring normalcy in the lives of affected families, supporting rehabilitation and providing compensation for losses.
Majhi said the welfare and livelihood security of farmers, along with post-flood recovery, were among the top priorities of the state government.
