Dharamshala, July 16 -- The increasing frequency of cloudbursts and landslides in the Western Himalayas is a stark warning against unchecked development and climate neglect, says disaster management expert Rajan Kumar Sharma.
Rajan Kumar Sharma, told UNI that these were "not just natural events anymore but the crisis was a deadly mix of climate change, fragile Himalayan geography, and unregulated human activity."
Sharma stressed that rising temperatures, deforestation, rampant construction, and ignored environmental assessments are destabilizing the region. "Unless we align development with nature, these tragedies will only grow worse," he warned.
