Kolkata, Aug. 24 -- A Class I student was bitten by a snake during the tiffin break at Bhawanipur Mitra Institution's primary section in south Kolkata on Monday, triggering panic among students, teachers and parents.

The incident took place during the tiffin break when primary school students came down to the ground floor to play.

The family members of the child confirmed that the child was bitten by a snake on the right hand.

The child cried out in pain and fear, prompting classmates and teachers to rush to the spot.

School authorities took the student to SSKM Hospital within 15 to 20 minutes of the incident.
