Kolkata, March 14 -- Tension erupted in north Kolkata's Girish Park on Saturday as stone-pelting was reported near the residence of West Bengal minister Sashi Panja that sparked a bitter blame game between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Brigade Parade Grounds rally.

Both parties accused each other of orchestrating the violence, which left windows shattered, several party workers injured, and local police caught in the crossfire.

TMC workers alleged that BJP supporters were on their way to the Brigade Parade Grounds meeting and hurled stones at Panja's house.
