Kolkata, June 15 -- The criminal investigation department that is entrusted with the responsibility of investigating the signature forgery case of the TMC MLAs might summon the party's All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee again for the third time, as the investigation agency has found multiple inconsistencies in his statements during a marathon interrogation on Sunday.
Banerjee appeared before the CID for a second round of questioning on Sunday in connection with the alleged signature-forgery case where he was interrogated individually and was made to sit in front of TMC MLA Kunal Ghosh for hours.
According to CID sources, Banerjee was questioned for nearly eight-and-a-half hours at the agency's Bhawani Bhavan headquarters.
