Kochi, May 8 -- Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) registered nearly 10 per cent growth in cargo handling during the 2025-26 financial year, overcoming operational disruptions and geopolitical tensions in West Asia to strengthen its position as a major logistics gateway in South India.
According to official figures, CIAL handled 72,178 metric tonnes of cargo during FY 2025-26, with international cargo accounting for nearly 76 per cent of the total volume. Revenue from cargo operations rose to Rs 52.84 crore during the period.
The increase in cargo movement was driven mainly by higher exports of perishables, pharmaceuticals, industrial goods and e-commerce consignments through CIAL's expanding logistics network. The airport author...
