London, Sept. 1 -- Chris Columbus, the visionary behind the first two "Harry Potter" films, has unequivocally dismissed any prospect of reuniting the original cast, citing the irreconcilable divide sparked by J.K. Rowling's contentious remarks on transgender rights.

Columbus had once entertained the prospect of adapting the acclaimed stage play "Harry Potter and the Curse Child" with the original ensemble.
