Shimla, Jan. 26 -- A helicopter showered petals over the Shimla ridge where the state's Republic Day function was held on Monday, turning the ceremony, where Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla unfurled the national tricolour in the presence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, into it into a "people's event."The Governor inspected the parade from an open jeep and took the salute. Colourful tableaux by various departments and the Army were presented, reflecting the state's achievements and key government schemes. Cultural programmes showcasing Himachal Pradesh's rich heritage and development initiatives added vibrancy to the event.
