Beijing, Aug. 26 -- China's Vice Commerce Minister Li Chenggang will visit the United States this week for trade talks, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.

"Li, who is China's top trade negotiator, is set to meet with US Trade Representative Jamison Greer and senior Treasury Department officials; the talks are expected to focus on the purchase of soybeans," the publication said.

In August, China and the United States agreed to extend the tariff pause for another 90 days following talks in Stockholm.

China and the United States are currently in a state of what is essentially a trade war, which flared up after US President Donald Trump imposed a 10 per cent tariff on all Chinese imports in February.
