Raipur, Aug. 4 -- The Chhattisgarh government has opened the public consultation process for the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The government has invited citizens, organisations and other stakeholders to submit their suggestions and views by October 15, 2026.

A five-member committee set up by the state government is examining the need for a Uniform Civil Code in Chhattisgarh and preparing its framework. The panel is also reviewing the existing laws and arrangements governing personal civil matters. The aim is to bring all citizens under a common legal framework instead of religion-based personal laws.
