Raipur, May 27 -- Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday appealed to people across the state to remain cautious as temperatures continue to rise sharply.

He also urged citizens to show compassion towards vulnerable sections of society during the ongoing heatwave.

The Chief Minister advised people to drink sufficient water, carry water while travelling outdoors and avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during peak daytime hours.

He said basic precautions can significantly reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Sai appealed to residents to make arrangements for drinking water near homes, shops, offices and public places for passersby and daily commuters.
