Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 8 -- Senior Congress leader and former Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly, Ramesh Chennithala, has appealed to eminent public intellectuals: Professor Amartya Sen, Professor Romila Thapar, Dr Sakunthala Thilsted, Farooq Abdullah and Ms Kanimozhi, to reconsider their participation in the "International Conference on Development and Democracy" being organised by the Government of Kerala here on February 15.
In an open letter addressed to the invitees, Chennithala said he was writing not as a partisan political figure but as a concerned citizen and legislator who has long admired their scholarship, public contributions, and commitment to democratic values.
