Hassan, July 20 -- Chennamma Deve Gowda, wife of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and the matriarch of one of Karnataka's most influential political families, was laid to rest with full state honours at her native Mavinakere village in Holenarasipur taluk of Hassan district on Monday.
Thousands of mourners, including political leaders cutting across party lines, relatives, supporters and local residents, gathered to bid an emotional farewell to Chennamma, whose quiet presence and unwavering support had remained the backbone of the Deve Gowda family for decades.
