Thiruvananthapuram, June 28 -- The successful soft landing of India's lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3 lunar landing, has offered a powerful engineering lesson to the global space community by demonstrating that future spacecraft must be designed not only for reliability but also for resilience, according to engineering physicist and electronics engineer K.S. Manoj.

In an article titled "Chandrayaan-3's Greatest Lesson: Engineering for Failure," Manoj said the mission marked a fundamental shift in engineering philosophy by proving that complex space systems can be designed to withstand failures and still accomplish their primary objectives.

He said the approach adopted by the mission has important implications for future lunar, Martian and de...
