Mysuru, Aug. 27 -- Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wodeyar today slammed Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's recent statement that Chamundi Hill is not the property of Hindus, emphasising the hill's ancient religious significance as the site where Sage Markandeya performed penance.

Wodeyar described the remarks as "ridiculous and shocking," particularly inappropriate during the worship of Gauri Vinayaka.

He stressed that Chamundi Hill has thousands of years of history and that during its early period, no other religion existed there except Buddhism.

"Our religion should not be misused to make frivolous statements," Wodeyar said, countering Shivakumar's comments.
