Gadchiroli , July 7 -- : A cyber fraud involving alleged misappropriation of post-matric scholarship funds through unauthorised use of the UDISE code of the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Chamorshi, in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district has come to light, with police registering a case against two persons from West Bengal, officials said on Tuesday.

Police said the accused allegedly hacked the institute's credentials on the National Scholarship Portal and created records of 22 fictitious students during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic sessions to fraudulently claim government scholarships worth Rs 2.93 lakh.

The fraud came to light during an inquiry by the Directorate of Higher Education.
