Aizawl, Jan. 22 -- The Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), regarded as one of the most educationally underdeveloped regions of Mizoram, has recorded an overall literacy rate of 61.03 per cent, according to an official statement issued by the CADC's Information and Public Relations Department on Thursday.

The literacy figure is based on a comprehensive survey conducted by the Adult Education Department of the CADC, which covered all 88 Village Councils within the council's jurisdiction.

The survey exercise was carried out over a four-month period from October 2025 to January 2026 and marks the first such extensive literacy assessment undertaken by the department.
