Kolkata, Aug. 25 -- A coordinated Centre-state enforcement drive against hoarding, price manipulation and black marketing of sugar has intensified across West Bengal following Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's directive to step up market surveillance and crack down on artificial shortages.
The state administration has activated enforcement networks across 72 subdivisions and deployed dedicated enforcement wings under 35 police commissionerates.
Authorities have also set a target of at least 1,000 inspections and raids to identify supply-chain leakages, detect illegal stockpiling and prevent further escalation in prices of essential commodities.
