Panchkula, Aug. 5 -- The Central Government has confirmed it will not review the current House Rent Allowance (HRA) policy, which states that HRA is not granted to a government employee if both spouses work for the Central Government, are posted at the same location, and live in government accommodation allotted to either spouse.
In a written reply to an unstarred question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary stated that House Rent Allowance is provided to Central Government employees who do not receive government accommodation, to compensate for the cost of renting a residence.
