New Delhi, Aug. 12 -- The government on Wednesday outlined measures to address faculty vacancies in higher education, regulate fees in private educational institutions and strengthen the availability of special educators in schools, with the details being provided in written replies in the Rajya Sabha by Ministers of State for Education Dr Sukanta Majumdar and Jayant Chaudhary.

On faculty vacancies, Dr Majumdar said recruitment in Central Higher Education Institutions (CHEIs), including Central Universities, is undertaken by the respective institutions in accordance with their Acts, statutes and regulations. Vacancies in State Universities are filled by the concerned state governments or universities and are not maintained centrally.
