New Delhi, July 22 -- The Centre has directed app stores to remove mobile applications that enabled unauthorised remote control of e-rickshaw batteries, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada said the government took cognisance of reports regarding the misuse of certain Battery Management System (BMS) applications and, on July 3, 2026, issued orders for their removal from app stores.
The issue came to light in Delhi earlier this month, where certain Battery Management System (BMS) applications, reportedly of Chinese origin, were alleged to allow unauthorised remote control of e-rickshaw batteries. Drivers had claimed the apps could be used to ...
