Panchkula, June 24 -- The union Government has resolved a long-pending pension anomaly concerning central government employees appointed on compassionate grounds by issuing a key office memorandum clarifying that the date of application for compassionate appointment will be treated as the crucial date for determining eligibility under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
The clarification has been issued by the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. The move is expected to benefit eligible compassionate appointees whose applications were submitted before the introduction of the National Pension System (NPS) but whose appointments were made later.
