Chandigarh, Nov. 12 -- The Central Government has approved the construction of a new 25.7-kilometre railway line between Ferozepur and Patti, a long-pending demand that will strengthen connectivity between the Majha and Malwa regions of Punjab.
The project, estimated to cost Rs 764 crore, will also benefit the Indian Army by improving strategic access to border areas. Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu announced the approval during a press interaction, stating that while the clearance had been granted earlier, the official announcement was deferred due to the by-election in Punjab.
