Chennai, Jan. 20 -- The Tamil Nadu government today blamed the Centre for adoptingstep-motherly attitude towards the State in granting approvals even for Metro Rail Projectsin the State.

In hs customary New Year address to the State Assembly, Governor R N Ravi said amidstthe severe financial constraints, the State Government, in anticipation of timely release ofthe union Government's committed share, released the required funds in advance from itsown resources for the Chennai Metro Rail Phase II project to ensure uninterruptedimplementation.

However, the delay in the release of funds by the union Government has, over the past twoyears, impacted the allocation of resources for other development projects in the State.
