Dimapur, Aug. 12 -- A six-member inter-ministerial central team (IMCT), led by M Ramachandrudu, joint secretary (DM-II), reviewed the disaster situation in Nagaland arising from the ongoing monsoon at Chumoukedima on Tuesday, an official report said on Wednesday.

In his briefing, adviser to Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) Z Nyusiethio Nyuthe stated that the state witnessed severe and recurring flood events since July 19, with another major spell reported on August 3, causing widespread disruption and affecting communities across several districts.

He said 11 people lost their lives in one district, describing the incident as an unprecedented tragedy for the state.
